2023 SHOCK Meeting Mentoring Workshop Dinner

Date/Time: June 17, 2023, 7:30 PM – 9:00 PM

Junior Investigators and Trainees! You are invited to participate in an interactive topic-based session with mid and senior level established researchers and research facilitators. Informal interactions will occur in roundtable discussions. Each table will include 1-2 established investigators and 1-2 topics of discussion. During the 90-minute session junior investigators and trainees will be encouraged to visit multiple tables. Dinner will be provided.

 Discussion topics will include:

• Choosing a mentor
• Choosing a research topic and question
• NIH National Research Service Awards (F and T Awards)
• Obtaining K-level grants
• Transitioning from mentored training grants to R-level grants
• Non-NIH federal and non-federal funding pathways
• Networking and collaborating
• How to promote yourself and get promoted
• Work-life balance
• Etc.
